Brooks Kushman Hosts Intellectual Property Panel at Accelerate Michigan Innovation Competition

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – To help start-up companies understand the importance and value of intellectual property (IP), Brooks Kushman attorneys, Mark Cantor, president and Frank Angileri, shareholder will participate in the IP Panel at the Accelerate Michigan Innovation Competition, which the firm is also sponsoring.

Cantor and Angileri are slated to participate in the IP Panel on Wednesday, Nov. 13 from 12:45 p.m. to 2 p.m. where they will share advanced IP strategies, direction and steps to take to protect a brand and inventions. They will be joined by in-house counsel members from 5 Hour Energy, Compuware Corp. and MASCO Corp.

During the IP Panel, they will discuss the importance of IP for middle and late stage start-ups and the steps that should be taken to protect IP, how IP can create new business opportunities, and strategies on investing in IP. The panelists will also share stories on technology successes and failures.

The Accelerate Michigan Innovation Competition is an international business competition designed to highlight Michigan as a robust and vibrant venue for innovation and business opportunity. The competition honors the best and brightest early-stage entrepreneurs and rewards them with more than $1 million in cash and in-kind prizes. The event takes place Nov. 12 to Nov. 14 in Detroit.
