SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Brooks Kushman shareholder David Randall was recently elected Secretary of the Los Angeles Intellectual Property Association (LAIPLA) during the organization’s annual meeting on March 5, 2019 in Los Angeles, CA. In this role, he will not only perform the traditional functions of the office of Secretary, but he will also help provide leadership and oversight to the organization and the various events it plans for its membership throughout the year.
Randall has been a member of the LAIPLA for over twenty years and is currently serving on its Board of Directors. He is also actively involved in planning the organization’s premiere events. He is currently serving as a co-chair of the Planning Committee for TechTainment 5.0 conference. In 2018, he served as the co-chair of the Planning Committee for the TechTainment 4.0 conference and the LAIPLA Spring Seminar. He also co-chaired the Planning Committee for the LAIPLA Spring Seminar in 2014.
Randall is based in Brooks Kushmans’ Los Angeles office. He routinely represents clients in complex IP litigation matters, including patent, trademark and trade secret litigation, throughout the United States, as well as in multijurisdictional matters. Randall’s practice also includes post-grant proceedings with the Patent Trial and Appeal Board. He has advised clients on over twenty inter partes review and ten patent interference proceedings. His experience also covers a broad range of technologies, including technologies in the 3D printing, aerospace, automotive, biofuels, communications, chemical, consumer products, electronics, fashion, Internet, laser, medical device, material science, optics, and software and data storage industries.
Along with his involvement with LAIPLA, Randall has been an active member of the Intellectual Property Owners Association’s (IPO) U.S. Post-Grant Patent Office Practice Committee since 2013, and is a member of the Planning Committee for the USC IP Institute.
