Brett is a registered patent attorney and focuses his practice on domestic and foreign patent prosecution in the mechanical and electromechanical arts.  He works with international clients ranging from Fortune 500 Corporations to smaller start-ups.  His experience spans across a variety of technologies, as he represents clients in the medical device, acoustic device, automotive equipment, electronic products, industrial systems, garage door systems, information technology and agricultural machinery industries.

Brett’s practice also includes patentability investigations, freedom-to-operate opinions and patent litigation. He is highly capable at assisting with all phases of the litigation process from discovery to trial.

Prior to joining Brooks Kushman, Brett was an associate at an intellectual property boutique in Chicago, IL. He attended Chicago-Kent College of Law, where he graduated with Moot Court Honors. He earned his Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan State University and graduated with honors. < see less
