She has drafted and negotiated agreements involving trademark and copyright issues, including the use of trademarks and third-party IP in marketing copy and in mobile apps. Kristen also has experience in licensing practices, including recording of the full chain of title of licensing and sublicensing agreements in various foreign jurisdictions.
“With all of my clients, I serve as a trusted advisor and partner to their cross-functional teams, working together to successfully resolve disputes quickly. I share the passions of my clients as we adapt to new technologies, priorities, and challenges together.”
Kristen’s extensive experience in enforcement efforts include researching and investigating potential infringements, preparing and responding to cease and desist letters and takedown requests, and developing strategies for international and domestic opposition and cancellation actions. She has a track record of helping clients resolve trademark and copyright disputes through successful negotiation of favorable terms.
Prior to joining Brooks Kushman, Kristen served as Associate Counsel for Intellectual Property at a major technology company where she managed global trademark and copyright portfolios, procurement and enforcement efforts, licensing agreements, and general intellectual property related transactions. Kristen also served as in-house counsel at a leading oil and gas company, where she counseled marketing teams on a range of issues in commercial activities, including intellectual property and right of publicity considerations, sweepstakes and promotions laws, and compliance with advertising and consumer protection regulations. During law school, Kristen worked as a technical consultant on the second season of the award-winning HBO television show “Silicon Valley”, where she advised screenwriters on the legal plotline.
Outside of the office, Kristen can be found attempting to cook a feast for her household of two, exploring new restaurants, attending live music shows, hiking, traveling, and catching up on the latest movie or television show. She is a city-dweller who likes to believe that she is an avid fan of the great outdoors.
