Clinton has been practicing with intellectual property law for over 25 years, representing companies across many industries. Clinton’s practice focuses on working with businesses to develop and manage all aspects of their IP protection strategy. Clinton is also an experienced mentor and frequently mentors and coaches young attorneys in career development. Clinton’s industry experience ranges through a wide variety of industries, including consumer packaged goods (CPG), food, tobacco, medical devices, energy, fuel systems, technology transfer, clinical trials, university research agreements, and food packaging. Within these industries, Clinton has a wide range of experience including patent and trademark portfolio development, intellectual property counseling, patent prosecution, patent and commercial litigation, commercial agreements, commercial and technology transactions, sales and marketing support, software as a service (SaaS), regulatory compliance, research and development support, patent assertion entity conflict management, and copyright. Before joining Brooks Kushman, Clinton served as General Counsel for a fast-growing packaging company located in Chicago. Before that, Clinton has also served as Chief Counsel of Patents for a global consumer packaged food and beverage company. Clinton also spent 11 years as a project engineer for a global oil and natural gas company as well as served in the United States Navy as a Naval Officer. Outside of the firm, Clinton can be found volunteering as a board member of the Greater Chicago Food Depository as well as at individual food banks such as the Pop Up Food Bank at the Hines VA Hospital.
