Washington D.C. – Brooks Kushman principal Lissi Mojica will be presenting at The Carolina Patent, Trademark & Copyright Law Association (CPTCLA) Fall CLE Seminar on September 22, 2017 in South Carolina at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort. Her presentation is titled, “Federal Circuit Decisions and How They Are Impacting the Policies and Procedures at the PTAB.” The program will span two-days, and other presentations include, “Mechanisms for Navigating the USPTO: Facilitating Allowance and Strategies for Working with Examiners,” “Desperately Seeking Trade Secrets – A Practical Guide for Finding and Protecting Your Trade Secrets,” and more.
Mojica is recognized as a global leader in post-grant proceedings. Her practice includes all aspects of post-grant proceedings, and she specializes in appeals to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office’s Patent Trial (USPTO) and Appeal Board. She also focuses on patent quality and patent examination matters. Before moving to the private sector, Mojica acted as an examiner with the USPTO for nearly 20 years. In that position, she launched and became the director of the Central Reexamination Unit (CRU), which works to safeguard the quality and consistency of reexamination proceedings and to reduce pendency.
Mojica holds a Master in Business Administration from Marymount University as well as a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
The CPTCLA is the oldest legal association in North and South Carolina dedicated to practitioners of intellectual property law. The organization hosts bi-annual seminars and meetings that attract speakers from all around the world to discuss patent, trademark and copyright legal issues.
