SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Managing Intellectual Property is hosting the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) Forum 2018 in both Palo Alto and New York. The forum will discuss the impact that the America Invents Act (AIA) has had on the patent litigation landscape. Brooks Kushman shareholder Linda Mettes will be speaking on a panel at the Palo Alto location. The panel will focus on procedural challenges associated with the AIA. The panelists will discuss updates from motions to amend in PTAB proceedings, how to adapt to the rule changes, how to manage your strategy for the next six to twelve months, and more. At each city location, panels will be led by experts in the industry, and provide an opportunity to not only discuss key issues that are impacting PTAB proceedings, but strategies that can be implemented to overcome complex issues and the changing AIA landscape.

Mettes specializes in intellectual property litigation, and has tried patent, trademark, and copyright cases in Federal courts nationwide, and is authorized to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. She has extensive experience in managing litigation from pre-suit investigation through trial/appeal, and has handled cases in a wide array of technology such as mechanical devices, pharmaceuticals, computer disk drives, connectors, ophthalmic surgical equipment, neurosurgical devices, stents, televisions, cell phones, mass spectrometry, medical imaging, metal casting, silicon wafers, automotive components, consumer products, financial products, Internet advertising, and polyethylene foam. Mettes has also provided legal opinions, conducted due diligence and negotiated and drafted licensing agreements.
