Brooks Kushman’s Lora Graentzdoerffer Honored with Fusion Horizon Award for Professional, Civic and Community Accomplishments

Lora J. Graentzdoerffer, an associate at Brooks Kushman law firm, was recently honored with a Fusion Horizon Award in the category of Professional Services for Young Professionals. The inaugural competition recognizes young and experienced professionals for their professional, civic and community accomplishments and achievements within the Detroit region.

Graentzdoerffer was honored for her international legal and engineering endeavors that have helped clients to better capitalize their ideas and inventions around the globe. Her thorough understanding of the international implications of producing technology in today`s global market allows Graentzdoerffer to expertly assist a variety of inventors in protecting inventions and promoting innovation in metro Detroit.

“By protecting the innovation and inventions of area businesses and individuals, we are better able to protect and foster innovation in the region,” said Graentzdoerffer. “Through these efforts, I am confident that the region will be able to rebound from its current state.”

Joining Brooks Kushman in 2006, her practice includes domestic and international patent prosecution, technical design consulting, client counseling, legal opinion preparation, patent litigation support and other intellectual property (IP) related services.

Prior to joining Brooks Kushman, Graentzdoerffer spent time studying comparative patent law and working for a patent law firm in Munich, Germany, where she frequently attended hearings at the European Patent Office. She also spent time as an engineering intern in Germany at a major automotive manufacturer and has worked in the IP management department for an automotive company.

Graentzdoerffer earned a juris doctor degree from DePaul University`s College of Law in Chicago and a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering, with a German minor, from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. She is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the Michigan Intellectual Property Law Association, the Intellectual Property Owners Association and the University of Michigan Alumni Association. She also serves as the chapter leader for DePaul University Alumni Association`s Detroit Chapter.
