SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Brooks Kushman shareholder Bernard Tomsa will be presenting at the rescheduled, virtual IPWatchdog CON2020 on October 13, 2020 at 12:00 PM EST. This event brings together top speakers with industry dignitaries to connect leaders of the industry with thought-provoking content and networking.
Patents have been and continue to be an important asset for innovators. Unfortunately, however, a patent is not an asset that typically possesses flexibility and adaptability. In the presentation titled, “Preparing and Prosecuting Patents that Stand Up to Challenge,” Tomsa’s group will discuss the evolution of patent law and some tips on drafting a patent that will hold up to challenge, what the changing landscape means for patent application best practices, and what tips and tricks should be employed in order to provide a specification that has maximum opportunity for success during examination.
Tomsa has drafted hundreds of patents in his career. He has extensive experience with software patent applications. Tomsa works with several multi-national corporations on the management of large patent portfolios. Understanding the competitive advantage that can be obtained through the application of modern computing technology to portfolio management, Tomsa has developed expertise with software providing analytical portfolio analysis. Tomsa holds a BSE in Computer Science from the University of Michigan, as well as a JD from the George Mason School of Law in Arlington, VA. Bernie is a registered patent attorney and a member of the State Bar of Virginia.
