SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Managing Intellectual Property is hosting the second annual Global Trademark Roadshow in multiple cities across the United States, including New York, where Brooks Kushman shareholder Kristin L. Murphy will be speaking. At each city location, panels will be led by experts in the industry, and there will be an array of opportunities for in-house trademark and IP counsel to learn more about the global trademark marketplace and the developments in global trademarks through engaging talks and networking.
Murphy will be discussing when it makes sense to litigate. She will be specifically focusing on balancing enforcement and business costs, practical considerations involved in undertaking enforcement, and what to do when an enforcement goes viral and threatens your reputation.
With over 20 years of IP experience, Kristin Murphy’s practice includes all aspects of IP protection. She works with multi-national corporations on the management of patent and trademark portfolios, as well as IP litigation. With respect to trademark matters, Kristin has experience managing domestic and international trademark portfolios, and works with clients on drafting and negotiating agreements, preparing and responding to cease and desist letters, as well as opposition and cancellation proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. Kristin’s wide-range of trademark experience allows her to navigate complex issues and develop strategic trademark resolutions that are in the best interest of her clients’ business needs. She also have experience working alongside legal and marketing teams to develop strategic branding objectives.
Murphy earned her Juris Doctor and LLM in Intellectual Property Law from the University of New Hampshire (formerly Franklin Pierce Law Center) and a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Western New England University, where she is a member of the Board of Trustees.
