Linda Mettes and Robert Tuttle Host IP Discussion with Asian Pacific American Chamber of Commerce

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Brooks Kushman shareholders Linda Mettes and Robert Tuttle are speaking on a panel hosted by the Asian Pacific American Chamber of Commerce (APACC), Emerging Technology & Innovation: Protecting Your Intellectual Property and Getting Credit Where Credit is Due. Mettes is speaking on the panel and Tuttle is moderating. The panel will focus on Research and Development (R&D) strategies to increase inventions and the fundamentals of the R&D tax credit including its potential with non-patentable events and throughout various levels of R&D. Mettes will joined by representatives from APEX Advisors on the panel.

Mettes is a registered patent attorney and focuses her practice on intellectual property litigation. She has handled cases in Federal courts across the country in a wide array of technologies and all forms of intellectual property – e.g., patents, trademarks, trade dress, copyright and trade secrets.Mettes is active in promoting STEM educational opportunities for young women and has worked on STEM scholarships and events with Go Red for Women.  She also teaches patent litigation as an adjunct professor at Michigan State University.  Mettes has also served for the last two years as the Detroit City Lead for the Leadership Counsel on Legal Diversity (LCLD) as a part of their Diversity Program Development.

Tuttle focus his practice on patents and trade secrets, as well as trademark litigation and post-grant proceedings. In conducting litigation, he makes it his priority to carefully understand the dispute and his client’s business objectives, and to determine how to achieve those objectives in the most efficient manner. His familiarity and facility with the applicable case law, statutes, rules, and regulations allow him to devise highly creative strategies to meet clients’ goals.
