SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Brooks Kushman Shareholder Kristin Murphy will moderate a panel discussion on European patent protection during a Michigan Intellectual Property Law Association event in Detroit on November 29, 2016.
Murphy will join a panel of professionals from the EPO delegation to discuss patent procedures within the European Patent and Trademark Office. Specifically, the panel will discuss PCT applications, computer related invention claims, unitary patents and what effect will the Unified Patent Court have on enforcement.
Murphy has years of experience with all aspects of intellectual property. Her practice includes domestic and foreign patent prosecution, including as part of strategic patent portfolio development and management. She also has extensive experience with trademark, unfair competition, and patent litigation through trial and appeal. She has developed an expertise in administrative contested matters, such as oppositions and cancellation practice before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, and Inter Partes Review proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.
Murphy holds a Juris Doctor from the University of New Hampshire and a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from Western New England University.
