Brooks Kushman Shareholder to Present at ICLE Entrepreneurial Law Institute

SOUTHFIELD, MI – Brooks Kushman Shareholder Kristin Murphy will present during the Institute of Continuing Legal Education’s (ICLE) Entrepreneurial Law Institute on May 29, 2015 in Detroit.

Murphy will discuss the importance of developing a strong patent portfolio and the mistakes to avoid when approaching and developing a patent strategy.

Murphy’s practice encompasses all aspects of intellectual property.  She advises companies of all sizes on the development of their patent and trademark portfolios, brand enforcement and patent litigation. She also counsels companies, venture capitalists, and investors by helping them evaluate the viability of patent portfolio assets and properly understand the strengths and weaknesses of those assets, which enables them to make critical investment decisions.

Murphy holds a Juris Doctor from the University of New Hampshire and a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Western New England University, where she is a member of the Board of Trustees.

She also serves as the immediate past president of the Women’s Bar Association of Oakland County, president of the Michigan Intellectual Property Law Association and is a member of the advisory council of The Pink Fund, a Michigan-based charity aiding women and men battling breast cancer.
