SOUTHFIELD, Mich. –In December of 2017, Brooks Kushman attorney Alan J. Gocha took on his fourth pro bono litigation case, representing the plaintiff in Leshan v. Grill d/b/a Christian Brothers Piano in the State of Michigan’s 17th Circuit Court. The case involved a Grand Rapids businessman who has allegedly committed retail fraud multiple times over the past 25 years. Most recently, he was accused of fraudulent activity through his company, Christian Brothers Piano. On November 9, 2018, the Circuit Court granted Gocha’s Motion for Dispositive Sanctions—filed in response to discovery violations by the opposing party. The Court entered a judgment in plaintiff’s favor for $57,420 in damages and awarded plaintiff $17,525 in attorney’s fees—for a total judgement of $75,135 plus interest.
