Mark’s practice primarily focuses on patent preparation and prosecution in the mechanical and electromechanical arts. Mark works with domestic clients and Multinational Corporations based in Asia and Europe. He works with clients in various industries, including automotive, consumer products, computer and display panel technology, and commercial/construction equipment. Mark’s practice extends beyond patent prosecution and includes global patent portfolio development, technical design consulting and client counseling on all aspects of intellectual property matters and related business matters. Mark strives to develop a strong understanding of his clients’ intellectual property and business needs to create tailored strategies for global portfolio protection. He works with small and medium sized companies to Fortune 500 Corporations. During his time at Brooks Kushman, Mark has drafted and prosecuted key patents for many of his clients. In that regard, Mark has prosecuted patents that have yielded significant licensing fees or for which significant damages have been awarded through trial. Mark served for more than two years as acting Division Intellectual Property Counsel for the Global Seating Systems Division of Lear Corporation, a Tier I automotive supplier. In that capacity, he aided in the management of Lear's intellectual property department and counseled Lear management on patent portfolio, investigation, licensing, litigation and budget matters. Mark obtained a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Michigan in 1987, and spent about ten years working in industry in various engineering capacities. While working for Mobil Oil Corporation as an environmental engineer, Mark obtained a law degree from Wayne State Law School in 1997. Since that time, he has been working at Brooks Kushman where he specializes in intellectual property law.
