SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Brooks Kushman patent attorney Corey Neil, in partnership with client Brose North America, will speak at the Autolex Automotive Legal Forum, organized by Managing Intellectual Property  and Benchmark Litigation in Detroit, Michigan on September 25, 2018. At the forum, attendees and presenters will discuss the increasing reality of autonomous vehicles on the automotive industry as they continue to disrupt the current landscape.

Neil will speak on a panel focusing on the patent and licensing concerns for autonomous vehicles. Topics to be discussed include:

  • Whether the changing technology landscape affects the exploitation and protection of patents
  • If patent pools will be created, and whether they will be considered anti-competitive by the Justice Department
  • Strategies to maintain IP protection along the global supply chain
  • Whether open source, LOT Network, or acquisitions of independently-developed IP will be the most viable approach

Neil is a registered patent attorney. He focuses his practice on preparing and prosecuting domestic patent applications in the mechanical and electomechanical arts. He also has extensive experience providing data to clients that strengthens their position in determining whether to patent an inventive concept, whether they have freedom to operate, the state of the art of a specific technology market and if there is any white space within that technology market, as well as in intellectual property negotiations, settlements and litigation. Prior to joining Brooks Kushman, Neil spent several years working as an engineer, as well as acting as a liaison between a large automotive OEM’s patent department located in Germany and its’ North American Headquarters.
