Southfield, Mich.- Hope Shovein, Trademark & Brand Management attorney for Brooks Kushman, will be a panelist at IP Con 2022: An Annual Symposium for the Progress of Science and Useful Arts hosted by the McCarthy Institute

On March 17th, Hope will participate on a discussion panel, “Trademark Year in Review,” focusing on the latest developments in trademark law in the U.S., including the Trademark Modernization Act of 2020; protecting trademarks in the emerging metaverse; the evolving state of secondary trademark liability for physical and digital marketplaces; NFTs and trademark infringement.

The McCarthy Institute’s IP-Con brings together academics, practicing attorneys, and students from across the globe to engage with one another as they consider current topics in intellectual property law. This year’s conference also introduces the new partnership between The McCarthy Institute and the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law to the legal community.

She also counsels on brand protection programs utilizing investigations, demand letters, online and social media platform takedowns, domain name complaints, as well as Trademark Trial and Appeal Board proceedings. She specializes in helping clients enforce their rights in any medium, including the unauthorized use of trademarks and copyright-protected material on the internet. Hope is a Past Chair of both the State Bar of Michigan (SBM) Intellectual Property Law Section and also the Young Lawyers Section. She served as a Commissioner on the SBM Board of Commissioners.
