Brooks Kushman Attorney Named Among 2016 “Women in the Law” By Michigan Lawyers Weekly

Southfield, Mich. – Brooks Kushman is pleased to announce Hope Shovein has been named among Michigan Lawyers Weekly’s “Women in the Law.” This award recognizes 30 women in Michigan’s legal community for their commitment to excellence in the practice of law, leadership in the profession, mentoring and dedication to volunteerism and pro bono activities.

Michigan Lawyers Weekly will recognize the 2016 Women in the Law at an awards luncheon on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at the Detroit Marriott in Troy, Michigan. The winner of the publication’s “Woman of the Year” award will also be announced at the luncheon.

“Hope is a leader within our firm and the legal community.,” said Elizabeth Janda, chair of Brooks Kushman’s Trademark practice and named a 2015 “Woman in the Law” by Michigan Lawyers Weekly. “She is a crucial member of our growing trademark practice and we are thrilled to see her recognized as a ‘Woman in the Law.’”

Shovein focuses her practice on the procurement and enforcement of trademark rights, including proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. Shovein specializes in helping clients enforce their rights in any medium, such as the unauthorized use of trademarks in website content, and representing clients in domain name disputes. She holds a Juris Doctor from University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, as well as a Bachelor of Arts from Michigan State University.

Shovein was recognized for her efforts and leadership within the State Bar of Michigan’s Intellectual Property Law Section, various International Trademark Association (INTA) Committees, volunteer efforts for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, as well as her successful and growing practice. She was also named an Up & Coming Lawyer by Michigan Lawyers Weekly in 2010.
