SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Brooks Kushman is pleased to welcome Paul Margolis as its newest attorney. With almost 20 years of experience practicing intellectual property law, we are excited to have him on our team.
Margolis has been recognized for his excellence in intellectual property and technology strategy, with both in-house and private practice experience, by clients and colleagues. Throughout his career he has successfully tried patent, trademark, trade secret, and copyright cases in the Federal Courts nationwide. Margolis has also actively protected many leading technological advances, including autonomous vehicles, battery-electric powertrains and transmissions, adaptive cruise control, connected vehicle services, enhanced software encryption, data-driven advertising, CRISPR, genetically-modified crops, purification techniques for biological therapies, and metallocene catalysts.
Prior to joining Brooks Kushman, Margolis worked in-house for a large automotive manufacturer. In this role, he led and directed strategy for all intellectual property and technology-related disputes, including patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, brand protection, software, cybersecurity, and privacy. Margolis also has broad experience in intellectual property, technology and software licensing, and brand protection, including standard-essential patents, and e-commerce brand enforcement. Paul also has considerable experience advising C-suite and senior corporate leadership regarding intellectual property and licensing.
Margolis received his Juris Doctor from the University of Illinois College of Law. Prior to becoming an attorney, Margolis majored in Biochemistry from the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign, graduating with high honors.
