Paul Margolis has nearly 20 years of experience practicing intellectual property law. He is recognized for his excellence in intellectual property and technology strategy, with both in-house and private practice experience, by clients and colleagues. Throughout his career, he has successfully tried patent, trademark, trade secret and copyright cases in Federal Courts nationwide and actively protected many leading technological advances, including, autonomous vehicles, battery-electric powertrains and transmissions, adaptive cruise control, connected vehicle services, enhanced software encryption, data-driven advertising, CRISPR, genetically-modified crops, purification techniques for biological therapies and metallocene catalysts.

Paul also has broad experience in intellectual property and software licensing and brand protection, including standard-essential patents and e-commerce brand enforcement.  He also routinely drafts and advises on commercial and consumer agreements and has worked extensively with consortiums and universities.

Prior to joining Brooks Kushman, Paul worked in-house for a large automotive manufacturer. In this role, he led and directed strategy for all intellectual property and technology-related disputes, including patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, brand protection, software licensing, cybersecurity and privacy. 

In his free time, Paul likes to cook and spend time with family and friends.  He also is very involved with the Friendship Circle of Michigan.
