Southfield, Mich. – Intellectual property and technology law firm Brooks Kushman will participate in the fight against breast cancer by contributing a percentage of all professional billings in October to National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc.® (NBCF). NBCF’s mission is to help women now by providing help and inspiring hope to those affected by breast cancer through early detection, education and support services.
Additionally, to help raise awareness among the legal community of the breast cancer health crisis and promote support of NBCF, Brooks Kushman will be using pink versions of its logo on its website and in other applications throughout the month to provide a visual reminder of the need for broad support of breast cancer detection, treatment, support and research initiatives.
“We all have people in our lives who have fought the battle against breast cancer; whether it’s spouses, family members, friends, coworkers or others,” said Mark Cantor, president of Brooks Kushman. “My mother fought this disease in the 1950’s and survived to raise her 2 children. With one in eight women in America being diagnosed with breast cancer at some point in their lives, this is a personal cause for all of us and it’s one we are proud to take on together as a firm.”
While estimates predict that more than 230,000 women in the United States will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer and 40,000 women will die as a result of breast cancer in 2015, mortality rates have been dropping for more than two decades because of better awareness, earlier detection and improved treatments. NBCF’s work to expand early detection programs and improve access to free mammograms is a component of these improving statistics, even while much work remains to be done.
Recognized as one of the leading breast cancer organizations in the world, NBCF’s mission is to help women now by providing help and inspiring hope to those affected by breast cancer through early detection, education and support services. A recipient of Charity Navigator’s highest 4-star rating for eleven years, NBCF provides women Help for Today…Hope for Tomorrow® through its National Mammography Program, Beyond The Shock®, Early Detection Plan, and breast cancer research programs.
