Brooks Kushman Shareholder Honored as a 2018 Leader in the Law

Southfield, Mich. – Brooks Kushman shareholder, John Nemazi, has been honored as a 2018 “Leader in the Law” by  Michigan Lawyers Weekly. Nemazi will be recognized, along with other distinguished attorneys, at the 2018 Leader in the Law award ceremony on April 5th at the Detroit Marriott Troy.

According to Michigan Lawyers Weekly, Leaders in the Law are honored for significant accomplishments in law practice, specifically outstanding contributions to the practice of law in Michigan, leadership in improving the Michigan justice system, seeking to improve the legal community and their communities at large, setting a good example for other lawyers and much more.

Nemazi has been with Brooks Kushman for 30 years, and is the Co-Chair of the firm’s Patent Prosecution practice group. He is dedicated to mentorship and training within the firm, and is responsible for creating a training program that program has also been used by several of the firm’s clients to educate new in-house patent attorneys. Nemazi is also particularly passionate about supporting entrepreneurs, and is actively involved with the Accelerate Michigan Innovation Competition, Michigan Venture Capitalists Association, and a number of business incubators in Metro Detroit. Due to his commitment to providing exceptional and innovative results that are customized to his clients’ needs, Nemazi has helped grow Brooks Kushman from 50 to over 90 attorneys, and was also instrumental in the opening of two new offices in Los Angeles and Washington D.C., while also expanding the firm’s international reach.

Nemazi earned a Juris Doctor degree with the Detroit College of Law. He also holds a Master of Science in Business Administration from Wayne State University, and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the General Motors Institute.
