Southfield, Mich.Brooks Kushman President Frank Angileri will be a panelist at the upcoming Patent Masters™ Litigation 2021 event hosted by IPWatchdog.

In the Spring of 2019, several Congressional leaders held roundtable meetings to attempt to reach an industry consensus around reforming patent eligibility to bring relief to the medical diagnostics and software industries. Sadly, no such consensus was reached. Meanwhile, the Federal Circuit’s efforts to apply Alice and Mayo have led to internal disputes. Federal Circuit opinions have sought guidance from the Supreme Court, but the Court has consistently denied numerous petitions for review. Amid this, the Patent Office continues to issue patents and district courts continue to resolve these matters on Motions to Dismiss and Summary Judgment. Angileri’s panel titled, “Alice & Mayo: How CAFC & District Courts Treat 101 Absent Congressional Intervention,” will review the latest rulings of importance from the Federal Circuit and review what district courts around the country are doing to handle 101 matters on the front lines.

This inaugural Patent Masters™ Litigation program will focus on patent litigation in the United States. During the sessions, speakers will explore litigation in the most active federal district courts in the country, at the International Trade Commission (ITC), and appeals to the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. They will also take a look at special issues of importance, including damages, patent eligibility, Standard Essential Patents, and litigation funding. If it happens as a part of litigating patents in the U.S., it will be covered as a part of this program.

Angileri has been practicing intellectual property law for nearly 30 years. He has served as lead counsel for a wide variety of clients, from individuals to major corporations, in intellectual property and commercial litigation matters. His litigation experience spans across various technologies and industries including, automotive, consumer electronics, industrial technologies, food and beverage, and home appliances. Angileri has successfully tried patent, trademark, trade secret and copyright cases in Federal Courts nationwide, the Courts of Appeals for the Sixth and Federal Circuits, and the International Trade Commission. He also works with clients to challenge or defend patents via the administrative trial procedures created under the America Invents Act (AIA).
