Hope Shovein Elected Chair of the Young Lawyers Section of the State Bar of Michigan

SOUTHFIELD, MI – Brooks Kushman attorney Hope Shovein has been elected chair of the Young Lawyers Section of the State Bar of Michigan for the 2013-2014 term.

The Young Lawyers Section provides education and information about issues of concern through meetings, seminars, a website, public service programs and a newsletter. Founded in 1940, the section is the oldest and second largest of the State Bar of Michigan with more than 7000 members.

Based in Brooks Kushman`s Southfield, Mich. office, Shovein focuses her practice on the procurement and enforcement of trademark rights, including proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. Shovein specializes in helping clients enforce their rights in any medium, such as the unauthorized use of trademarks in website content, and she represents clients in domain name disputes. She is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, serving on the State Bar of Michigan`s Board of Commissioners and as a member of the Intellectual Property Law Section Council, in addition to serving as chair of the Young Lawyers Section. Shovein was also recently appointed to the International Trademark Association`s Enforcement Committee. She earned her J.D. from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law and her B.A. from Michigan State University.
