Amy Leshan Appointed As 2021 Leadership Council On Legal Diversity Fellow; Kristen Chui and Lena Haidous Appointed As LCLD Pathfinder Participants

Southfield, Mich. – Brooks Kushman Attorney Amy Leshan has been chosen to represent the firm as a member of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity’s (LCLD) 2021 class of Fellows. This innovative program identifies, trains, and focuses on the development of the industry’s next generation of professional leaders. It also offers participants virtual and in-person training, peer-group projects, and networking opportunities with LCLD’s top leadership and industry professionals alike.

Brooks Kushman Associates Kristen Chui and Lena Haidous have also been selected to represent the firm in the 2021 Pathfinder Program with the LCLD. This program is designed to provide diverse, high-potential, attorneys with practical tools, including learning how to expand their internal professional networks through relationship building skills, foundational leadership skills, and career development strategies. The program also offers participants in-person meetings, online experiential learning, Compass Conversations with LCLD Fellows, and peer networking.

Amy Leshan’s practice encompasses a broad range of intellectual property matters focused on enforcing intellectual property rights inside and outside of the courtroom. She works with clients to develop and implement IP enforcement strategies to fit their needs and sets up streamlined technical solutions, including incorporating artificial intelligence and automated procedures. Leshan also has experience with Trademark Trial and Appeal Board matters, clearance searches and opinions, and prosecuting trademark applications. Throughout her career, she has successfully tried patent, trademark, trade secret, and copyright cases in Federal Courts nationwide, as well as administrative proceedings before the International Trade Commission. Her litigation practice focuses primarily on the discovery and eDiscovery aspects of IP litigation.

Kristen Chui’s practice involves advising companies on intellectual property, brand management, marketing, and regulatory compliance. Her practice focuses on all aspects of trademark and copyright law, including trademark clearance, prosecution, dispute resolution, enforcement, and intellectual property portfolio management. She works extensively with legal, marketing, and business development teams to devise cost-effective global brand protection strategies. Chui also has experience in licensing practices as well as extensive experience in enforcement efforts. Prior to joining Brooks Kushman, Kristen served as Associate Counsel for Intellectual Property at a major technology company where she managed global trademark and copyright portfolios, procurement and enforcement efforts, licensing agreements, and general intellectual property related transactions.

Lena Haidous is a registered patent attorney who focuses her practice on trademark prosecution and enforcement. She has counseled clients on all aspects of their intellectual property management. She has experience drafting trademark applications and counseling clients on trademark clearance, prosecution, and enforcement to help them develop and protect their brands. Haidous also has experience in patent prosecution, drafting patent applications and office action responses. Additionally, she has experience researching and drafting motions in various areas of the law and general litigation.
