SOUTHFIELD, Mich.Brooks Kushman Shareholder John LeRoy will be speaking on a panel at the upcoming IPWatchdog SEP 2020 virtual program. His panel titled “FRAND and the Automotive Value Chain” will discuss, among many things, the status of Standard Essential Patent litigation in the U.S. and abroad, valuation of connected vehicle technology for FRAND licensing, and other issues relevant to Standard Essential Patent licensing.

For over 20 years, John LeRoy has been representing automotive clients in complex patent, trade secret and copyright litigation in telecommunications, software and electronics before U.S. district courts, the Federal Circuit and the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. He has spent nearly a decade negotiating with owners of Standard Essential Patents (SEPs) on behalf of automotive OEMs and suppliers. John is Co-Chair of Brooks Kushman’s patent litigation department, a registered patent attorney, and holds a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
