Brooks Kushman Welcomes Four New Associates, Expands Trademark, Patent Prosecution and Litigation Practice

SOUTHFIELD, Michigan – Brooks Kushman is pleased to welcome associates Emily Binienda, Chloe Conway, Danyal Haider, and Fatima Kassem to the firm’s growing trademark, patent prosecution and litigation practice.  

Binienda’s practice concentrates on intellectual property litigation. Prior to joining Brooks Kushman, Binienda was involved with many organizations including MSU Intellectual Property Law Society, MSU Board of Advocates, and the Saul Lefkowitz Trademark Moot Court Competition. She also has experience working as a legal extern at MSU’s Anti-Counterfeiting and Product Protection Center (A-CAPP Center), as well as clerking at a boutique intellectual property internet law firm where she assisted and handled trademark counterfeiting and copyright litigation matters, as well as matters in internet law. Emily holds a Juris Doctor from Michigan State University College of Law, as well as a B.A. in English Language, Literature and Philosophy from Grand Valley State University where she graduated magna cum laude. 

Conway focuses her practice on trademark and copyright prosecution and enforcement.  Throughout law school, she served as an extern at Michigan State’s Center for Anti-Counterfeiting and Product Protection (A-CAPP Center), a judicial intern for Judge Darlene O’Brien at Washtenaw County Trial Court, and a clerk for a boutique intellectual property firm. Conway holds a Juris Doctor from Michigan State University, magna cum laude, where she was a Managing Editor for the Michigan State Law Review. Prior to law school, Conway graduated with a B.S. in Business and a B.S. in Zoology from Miami University.  

Haider focuses his practice on patent prosecution and Intellectual Property litigation matters, leveraging his background in Electrical Engineering. Haider holds a Juris Doctor with honors from Emory University, where he served as a Managing Editor for Emory International Law Review and was a recipient of Emory Law merit-based scholarship. He also participated in the nationally recognized TI:GER program, a collaboration between Emory Law and Georgia Institute of Technology. During law school, Haider worked as a Summer Associate and an Intellectual Property law clerk at Brooks Kushman. Prior to law school, Haider graduated with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, summa cum laude, from Kennesaw State University, where he was inducted into Phi Kappa Phi national honor society for being among the top 10 percent of the graduating class. 

Kassem’s practice concentrates on trademark and copyright prosecution and enforcement. Kassem first joined the firm as a Summer Associate through the Wolverine Bar Association, while also serving as a judicial intern for the Honorable Avern Cohn in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan. Kassem holds a dual Juris Doctor and MBA from Michigan State University, cum laude, where she was the Senior Productions Editor for the Michigan State Law Review and a member of the Saul Lefkowitz Trademark Moot Court Competition. Prior to law school, Kassem graduated with a B.B.A. in Finance and minor in Political Science from the University of Michigan Dearborn.
