ROYAL OAK, MichiganBrooks Kushman CEO Sangeeta Shah is one of four experienced PTAB practitioners that will help train upcoming lawyers on oral advocacy in the upcoming Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) Legal Experience and Advancement Program (LEAP) for the America Invents Act (AIA) Oral Hearing Encore on Friday, May 17, from noon to 1:30 p.m.

In step one of the LEAP training program, LEAP practitioners will present arguments in a mock AIA trial proceeding before a panel of PTAB administrative patent judges. After arguments, the practitioners will participate in a panel discussion on the effectiveness of the arguments and approaches demonstrated during the mock argument. The LEAP program provides training and oral advocacy opportunities for less experienced advocates in proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB).  In step two, LEAP practitioners have an opportunity to witness experienced practitioners argue the same case in the Oral Hearing Encore.
