Future of Automotive High-Tech Consumer Experience

Southfield, Mich. – Brooks Kushman Shareholder Ben Stasa will serve on a panel at the IP in the Auto Industry conference on May 4, 2017 in Detroit, Michigan. Shareholder Martin Sultana will also serve as a moderator for a panel at the event. The conference provides IP legal professionals working in the auto industry with greater insight into the strategies and operational efficiencies to maintain a competitive edge.

Stasa and Sultana will be a part of an interactive discussion focusing on the future of automobiles as a high-tech consumer experience, and discuss how to manage the IP and regulatory issues that will likely result from the advancements in the industry. The panel will also focus on IP challenges with autonomous vehicles, issues with vehicle-to-vehicle communication, open source compliance and brand-positioning in the in-car marketing environment.

Stasa is co-chair of Brooks Kushman’s Autonomous Vehicle practice and a registered patent attorney. He focuses on managing patent assets for internationals companies big and small. Stasa also works to integrate inventors into the patent preparation and prosecution process to improve both their ability to provide valuable insight and the quality of their subsequent invention disclosures. Prior to entering the legal profession, he spent several years managing the design and manufacturing of engineered components. Stasa holds multiple technical degrees in electrical and computer engineering, computer and information science and mechanical engineering.

Sultana is co-chair of Brooks Kushman’s Autonomous Vehicle practice. He has over a decade of technical experience in the automotive industry, as well as with electronics and software. He regularly advises automotive OEMs and suppliers on the development of patent portfolios, freedom-to-operate opinions and validity opinions, and works with clients ranging from Fortune 100 Corporations to smaller entities to jump-start their patent portfolio. Sultana’s client-centric approach allows him to not only understand a client’s invention and how it fits within their portfolio, but also their business needs. Sultana holds technical degrees in electrical engineering and computer engineering.
