SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – The Intellectual Property Law Section of the State Bar of Arizona in cooperation with the Institute of Continuing Legal Education is hosting the fourth annual CLE in the Garden: Practical Lessons for Intellectual Property Practitioners at the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix, Arizona. The event is a six-hour seminar that will include IP-focused ethics, two mock client meetings, and breakout sessions for litigation, IP prosecution and transactions. Brooks Kushman attorney Alan Gocha will be presenting during the morning session.
Gocha’s presentation, Avoiding the Rabbit Hole, will focus on patent prosecution. It will specifically address practical models for determining patent eligibility under 35 U.S.C. § 101 and Alice based on his recent article “Avoiding the Rabbit Hole: An Ontological Model for Determining Section 101 Patent-Eligibility under Alice” published in The John Marshal Review of Intellectual Property Law.
Gocha’s practice is primarily focused on complex intellectual property litigation in electrical, mechanical and software matters, however his experience touches a broad range of practice areas, including employment, civil rights, corporations, nonprofit, and bankruptcy law. He also has experience in both defending against and asserting copyright, trademark, and patent rights, and has represented a wide range of clients, from small businesses and individuals to Fortune 100 companies. Gocha has served as lead counsel in a number of cases, both in state and federal court, and also has experience in appellate advocacy and arbitration.
