Bernie believes that a well-trained engineer is one of the most valuable IP resources a company can have.  Accordingly, Bernie works closely with clients’ engineering teams to ensure that everyone has a good grasp of how to identify and codify any inventive concepts that develop during ongoing engineering processes.

An avid thinker and an enthusiast of creative brainstorming, Bernie will challenge inventors to push creative boundaries to full expand inventive concepts.  Through careful discussion and educated insight, Bernie engages inventors in discussions that result in claims encompassing far more than the inventors' initial concepts.  Through this interaction, Bernie helps ensure that the patents he drafts deliver the full complement of protection to which the inventors are entitled.

Bernie holds a BSE in Computer Science from the University of Michigan, as well as a JD from the George Mason School of Law in Arlington, VA.  While in law school, Bernie served as an Associate Editor of the Law Review and an active member of the school's Moot Court Board.  He also sat on George Mason's Board of Visitors for a year, as a student liaison.  Bernie is a registered patent attorney and a member of the State Bar of Virginia.
